Year 10 pupils conduct Action Research in collaboration with Go Higher West Yorkshire

As part of Castleford Academy collaboration with Go Higher West Yorkshire, a small group of Y10 students recently took part in a Young Researchers Pilot Programme. The aim of the project was to encourage the participants to explore attitudes towards Higher Education, by interviewing members of their own family and community. In addition to conducting independent research the students were a fundamental source in the creation of the 'Putting Pupils in Control' Research Journal, which will be published later this year.

Due to their hard work and commitment to the programme, these students will be supporting their peers in access to HE information and guidance via presentations and group work.  As a result of their success, this programme is now being rolled out to other schools, which will support HE progression across the district.

Thank you and congratulations to the pupils involved; Matthew Bailey, Leah Barrett, Piper Brooks, Hannah Hirst, Ethan Hunt, Emily Powell, Fin Staton, Harry Wheldrick and Lucas Whipp.
