This year 3 pupils, from the 30 pupils that completed the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge, received a qualification through to the next round (the Junior Kangaroo). This is the highest number of students that have ever qualified from Castleford Academy.
The 3 students, Aaron Gill, Lucy Clayton and Jay Lindsay were among 5400 students nationwide that were invited to participate. The mean score for all pupils from the 1446 schools across the UK was 84. All 3 of our pupils achieved higher than this average with Aaron achieving 113, Lucy 101 and Jay 89. Two of the pupils achieved a merit which was a score of over 95, this puts those pupils in the top 25% nationwide for the UKMT Junior Kangaroo competition. This is the first time Castleford Academy students have achieved a merit in this competition so it is a huge achievement. Well done Aaron, Lucy and Jay!!
