​​​​​​Castleford Academy wins National School of the Year!


CASTLEFORD ACADEMY were crowned ‘National School of the Year’ awarded by the RFL at the Champion Schools National finals over the bank holiday weekend.

PE Teacher and Wembley trip leader Mr Ryan Lloyd collected the award on behalf of the school. He said ‘We would like to thank everybody who nominated us​ for this award. It is fantastic for us to be recognised for all the hard work staff put into extra-curricular PE.’


The school once again has managed to get 6 teams through to the National finals. This equates to 62 teams in 13 years and 7 curtain-raisers at Wembley stadium. Castleford Academy are undoubtedly the highest achieving Rugby League school in the UK.

On a successful weekend for the school, Mr Ryan Lloyd also picking up the ‘Outstanding contribution to schools Rugby League’ award for his efforts within the school, as well as his contribution to Yorkshire Schools Rugby League.
