Play Boat for Glasshoughton Infant Academy

Castleford Academy pupils deliver a play boat they have made to Glasshoughton Infants School.

The Y10 pupils have been working on a social enterprise project in their Work Related lesson, this has involved them writing to local timber companies to ask for donations to enable them to make the play boat for a reception class. The pupils sent letters to several local companies who specialise in timber products.

'We were overwhelmed by the generosity and number of responses we got. We initially intended to make the boat for Glasshoughton Infants School who had requested it in the summer but will now be making boats for several of our feeder schools'

The pupils received donations from Atkinsons, Woodstock Timber, Jewson, Howarth Timber Wakefield and Timber Decking and Cladding Association.  The first boat was delivered last week and was made from timber donated by Jewson Pontefract.
