1 x Part time SEND Teaching Assistant – Temporary Contract 12 months
15.75hrs per week over 5 days (Term time only)
Morning job role: 8:30am until 12:00pm
Teaching Assistant Grade 4 SCP 14 to 17 - £17,681 to £18,672 FTE Actual Salary £6,278.83 to £6,630.75
We are looking for motivated, passionate individuals who genuinely want to make a difference to young people with additional needs.
The successful candidates will be expected:
To provide particular support for individual pupils or groups of pupils with special educational needs. Assisting with their learning activities and providing supervision.
Where appropriate, to support the integration of pupils into mainstream education.
To assist with the personal needs of pupils including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
To support the child to manage personal care including access to the toilet, adjusting clothing and the maintenance of hygiene.
To deliver physical management under the guidance of a specialist (OT)
To carry out medical procedures including administering medication (These duties are to be undertaken following appropriate training).
To report to the teacher or line manager any pupil problems or behavioural difficulties in accordance with school policy.
To report to the teacher or line manager on pupil progress and achievements in accordance with school policy.
To assist the teacher or the line manager by contributing as directed to a pupils’ individual behaviour/education plan including providing or gathering routine information from parents/carers.
To provide general support with learning activities (e.g. literacy, numeracy, PE) to enable pupils to understand instructions and to ensure they remain on task.
To assist with the maintenance of equipment and resources.
To assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times, including before and after school, playtime and at lunchtimes. These duties shall be undertaken within the post holder’s contractual hours.
To participate in school visits, assisting with activities as required.
To support the child with their moving and handling needs. This will involve following a moving and handling plan, and complying with principles of safe moving and handling.
To support the child to complete a therapy programme as advised by physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech and language therapists.
In accordance with the Health and safety at work act, follow all risk assessments in place. Eg. PEEP, Moving and handling.
To perform other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as directed by the Senior Team
This is a temporary position that could develop into a permanent role.
